Hawaiian BBQ Teriyaki Chickpeas


  • 15 ounces chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • ¼ cup teriyaki sauce

  • 1 Tablespoon Szechuan sauce

  • 2 cups cooked brown rice

  • 1 cup salsa

  • ¼ cup dried onion (optional)

  • 1 Tablespoon raw sugar (optional)


  1. Combine chickpeas, teriyaki, Szechuan sauce and sugar in a large frying pan.
    Marinate at least 5 minutes (the longer the better).

  2. Turn heat to medium and cook, stirring regularly or until most of the liquid is absorbed, about 10 minutes.

  3. Spoon chickpeas over rice and top with fresh pineapple or mango salsa.


Cool seasoned chickpeas and add to any salad
